Best Iconic Wedding Venue in Sydney: Sydney Opera House
We might as well begin with the most iconic, Sydney Opera House.
In retrospect, many of the Opera House’s pocket venues have always been ripe for hosting occasions like weddings and nuptials. The Yallamundi Rooms for one look immaculate with its floor-to-ceiling glass windows providing breathtaking views of the cityscape and Sydney Harbour.
Yallamundi’s three connecting rooms can accommodate up to 100 guests for the ceremony and reception. Otherwise, each of the three rooms can host an intimate wedding venue and share an unobstructed view of the harbour. The venue also gets direct access from Northern Broadwalk, one of Sydney’s best vantage points.
The caveat is that all private events held inside the Sydney Opera House are subject to a venue hire fee and a minimum spend on food and beverages with the establishment’s in-house partner, Trippas White Group.
Best Versatile Wedding Venue in Sydney: Ivy Ballroom
This hidden Sydney wedding venue in the CBD is a portrait prestige and elegance for grand ballroom and wedding celebrations.
At full capacity, Ivy Ballroom can host up to 350 seated guests and up to 1,000 for cocktail and stand-up functions. The wedding packages also come with full AV support through the in-house supplier and scene change, including lighting, audio and staging.
Remarkably, the ballroom lets in plenty of natural light which makes wedding photos so much better and consistent. The room is subtly decorated in black and white, but it’s nearly a blank canvas when booked for a private function.
Aside from the luxe interior, guests can enjoy access to the garden terrace and revel at the venue’s award-winning in-house catering service.
Best Waterfront Wedding Venue in Sydney: View by Sydney
View by Sydney is arguably one of the best unique wedding venues in Sydney. This waterfront estate supplies an excellent view of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and an overlooking view of the harbour.
Currently, the View by Sydney can accommodate up to 275 seated guests with optional accommodation available on-site. Additionally, it’s impressive how well the venue can host a wedding ceremony in daylight and then offer a completely different mesmerising experience at sundown for the wedding reception.
Best Unique Wedding Venue in Sydney: St Josephs Guesthouse
St Josephs Guesthouse is a 17th century building that you can rent for up to five nights for a unique wedding package, including accommodation for 10 guests.
The venue should appeal most for couples searching for a vintage and romantic location with affordable rates. Notably, the establishment was restored from the ruins of an old Catholic church, which is evidenced by its most enduring relic: a church bell that amazingly remains in operation today and witness to countless Australian weddings.
For a full ceremony, couples can organise with their own suppliers and set up a reception that can host up to 100 seated guests.
Best Country Wedding Venue in Sydney: Ottimo House Denham Court Estate
St Josephs Guesthouse is a dream wedding location for couple who are looking for an idyllic wedding venue not too far from the CBD (40 minutes away).
This 500 acres of untouched countryside is a stunning location overall, but even more so for those who fancy a mix of rural and modern architecture. At present, the venue can hold up to 650 seated guests in its largest facility, which is The Mahogany.
There is also The Pavilion, a rustic open-air events space for intimate and casual celebrations or cocktail style receptions. Elsewhere in the property, sprawling greens mark the horizon, which makes a perfect backdrop for wedding photos.
Even when away from the usual comforts of the city, you’ll have no shortage of entertainment for the wedding celebration since the estate offers a wide range of entertainment options including DJs and bands, magicians and dancers, special acts, pyrotechnics and more.
Alternatively, if you want to stay in the CBD, the Royal Botanic Gardens can also present a decent option.
Best Fairytale Wedding Venue in Sydney: The Grounds
St Josephs Guesthouse may not have a lot going on from it’s name, but it’s definitively one of the best Sydney wedding venues for partners who are looking for a unique wedding venue and experience.
There are currently six enchanting spaces available for soon-to-be-newlyweds, with the Linseed House, a former factory, being the largest by virtue of its capacity to accommodate up to 380 guests for dining.
The historic establishment is housed by elegantly restored brick walls and adorned by an exquisite set of crystal chandeliers.
On the other hand, The Patio and Mantilla Room share the honors for hosting intimate wedding receptions of up to 50 seated guests. The former boasts a playful al fresco setting while the latter is semi-private space for those who wish to keep the celebrations indoors.
